Genmaicha is the Japanese name for green tea with roasted brown rice. This beautiful organic genmaicha blends roasted brown rice and popped rice with organic sencha, lending an oceanic green tea base a playful nutty and savory aroma and flavour.
Does this look like green tea to you? It is! Houjicha is a specially roasted green tea with a toasty sweetness and a nice fresh aroma. Roasting at low temperature transforms its colour to a reddish-brown. You may still detect umami undertones of steamed japanese green tea, but re-invented with new nutty, earthy and toasty flavours with hints of caramel or even a slight cinnamon note.
