Ma Deng mountain’s Yi ethnic people started their tea plantation over 800 years ago. Ancient Tea trees are everywhere in Horse Mountain, located 1780 meters above sea level. Different from many other mass production green teas, ancient tree teas are untouched by pollution, and they are not touched by any chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
Ancient trees strongly grown deep into the soil in the unpolluted environment. In addition, farmers grown the tea trees at their mountain home back yard, as they live with the tea trees for hundred years. Hence, they never use pesticides on the tall tea trees since they drink the teas from those trees themselves! Yi ethnic farmers only serve this highly reputed tea to their Honorable guests.
It is said that when the Thailand princess visited Yunnan in 1990, she fell in love with this tea and she carried 200 lbs of Horse Mountain Tea back to Thailand for her own consumption. Each cake is 357g.
